UK Orders Default Social-Media Curfews and Disables Addictive Features for Older Teens

The UK government announced that social platforms must default accounts belonging to 16- and 17-year-olds into a midnight-to-6 a.m. curfew. Autoplay, personalized feeds and other persistent-scrolling features will also be restricted by default. The government intends to lay the first regulations before Parliament by year-end and bring them into force in spring 2027. Users will retain the ability to change the default curfew setting.
