Lawmakers Push DOJ to Scrutinize Fox's $22 Billion Roku Takeover

Senator Elizabeth Warren, Representative Becca Balint and six other Democratic lawmakers sent the Justice Department a letter seeking close, impartial antitrust review of Fox's pending $22 billion acquisition of Roku. They argue that combining Tubi and The Roku Channel with Roku's connected-TV operating system and data could reduce free-streaming competition, steer Roku users toward Fox content and expand the combined company's control over viewing information. The deal offers Roku holders $160 per share in cash and Fox stock, reaches more than 100 million streaming households and is expected to generate roughly $400 million in annual cost synergies, according to prior transaction reporting.
